To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the School of Life Sciences launched an aesthetic education practice activity with the theme “Welcome National Day with Floral Flag -- Dedication to 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China with Traditional Flower Arrangement Art.” A Five-Starred Red Flag (the national flag), composed of nearly a thousand flowers, was surrounded by various flower arrangements, making the scene particularly bright and eye-catching. Teachers and students of the school combined patriotism with traditional culture and aesthetic education, offering their sincerest blessings to the country with enthusiasm and infinite creativity.

In the flower arrangement activity, teacher Dai Xigang, a laureate ofthe “Jingchu Craftsman in Hubei Province” title , introduced the traditional types of flower arrangement containers, the selection of containers, various compositions of flower materials, and pruning techniques. Students experienced up close the unique charm of traditional flower arrangement art.

Under the guidance of Guo Tingting, a first-prize winner of a flower arrangement competition in the vocational college group of a national vocational school skills competition, the students were engaged in the flower arrangement activities. They selected flower materials, matching colors, trimming flower branches, designed the overallshape, adapting flower utensils in line with flower meanings, all based on their own ingenuity.

Zeng Changli, dean of the School of Life Sciences, together with his faculty and students used nearly a thousand flowers to create a Five-Starred Red Flag. Red carnations, symbolizing good wishes, were used to form the flag, and yellow roses symbolizing love and loyalty were used to outline the five-pointed stars. They presented it as a gift for the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
